Our Story

CMR Marine began with a small team of licensed captains and marine professionals who saw too many owners overwhelmed by maintenance, staffing, and logistics. What started as informal support for a handful of local owners has grown into a full-service management company trusted throughout the Pacific Northwest.

The People Behind Every Voyage

Meet Chase Rowland

Chase Rowland's passion for boating began at an early age. Growing up in a family with generations of boaters, he spent his childhood on the waters of Puget Sound and his summers exploring the San Juan Islands. Those experiences inspired a lifelong appreciation for boating and shaped the career he enjoys today.

His professional journey began at Roche Harbor, where three seasons on the dock staff helped him develop exceptional boat-handling skills while building relationships with yacht owners from around the world. As Chase often says, "There is no such thing as a stranger—just a friend you haven't met yet."

After earning his U.S. Coast Guard 200 Ton Master Captain's License, Chase built his career with one of the Pacific Northwest's premier yacht management companies, gaining extensive experience in vessel operations, maintenance, project management, owner training, sea trials, surveys, and offshore yacht deliveries.

Today, as Founder and President of CMR Marine, Chase is committed to redefining the yacht management experience through proactive communication, preventative maintenance, and exceptional customer service. His philosophy is simple: owners should arrive at the dock knowing their boat is ready to enjoy.

When he's away from the marina, Chase enjoys restoring classic wooden boats, fishing, dirt biking, rock climbing, skiing, and learning about anything with a motor. He also proudly supports Outdoors for All, helping make outdoor recreation accessible to everyone.

Meet Jake Carman

Jake Carman grew up on Vashon Island, where a childhood spent boating, crabbing, fishing, and exploring Puget Sound sparked a lifelong passion for the water and the marine industry.

While attending Montana State University, Jake spent his summers working as a deckhand aboard private yachts, traveling throughout the Pacific Northwest. After graduation, he earned his U.S. Coast Guard 100 Ton Master's License and built his career in yacht management, serving as both a delivery captain and deckhand aboard a wide variety of private vessels along the West Coast.

Jake has developed a reputation for being organized, dependable, and detail-oriented. Whether coordinating maintenance projects, preparing vessels for extended cruising, or conducting routine inspections, he believes that professionalism, clear communication, and consistency are the foundation of exceptional yacht management.

As a key member of the CMR Marine team, Jake works alongside Chase to deliver a proactive, personalized approach that gives owners confidence their vessel is always cared for and ready for the next adventure.

Outside of work, Jake enjoys skiing, mountain biking, and exploring the Pacific Northwest. He often describes himself as a "water-born creature," happiest wherever the mountains meet the sea.

Meet Dusty Rowland

Dusty Rowland serves as Executive Chairman of CMR Marine, bringing more than 35 years of experience building, growing, and advising successful businesses. Throughout his career, he has founded and co-founded multiple companies, led mergers and acquisitions, and helped business owners successfully grow and transition their companies. At CMR, Dusty focuses on strategy, operational systems, and creating an exceptional client experience.

Boating has been a lifelong passion. Dusty grew up sailing and fishing in the Thousand Islands on the St. Lawrence River and spent his early years supporting his uncle’s world-class tunnel boat racing team, sponsored by Mercury Marine.

Later, Dusty spent several years living aboard a boat in Marina del Rey before moving to Washington, where he fell in love with boating and fishing throughout Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands. In 2022, he completed half of America’s Great Loop aboard a Pursuit 385 OS, fittingly ending the journey back in the Thousand Islands where his love of boating began.

Today, Dusty combines his business experience and passion for boating to help CMR Marine build a more professional, proactive approach to yacht management, giving owners greater confidence in their boats and more time to simply enjoy being on the water.
